A complete convention graphics package built around the theme "Deep Dive" — exploring depth, discovery, and the investigative spirit of student journalism.
Overview
The 2026 STN Convention invites storytellers to go beyond the surface with its theme, "Deep Dive." This concept celebrates the pursuit of deeper understanding — encouraging student journalists and creators to explore the layers behind every story.
Rather than focusing on disruption, the design language centers on exploration, curiosity, and depth. Graphics emphasize movement downward into layers of information, representing how powerful stories are uncovered when creators dig deeper and push beyond the obvious.

STN conventions bring together hundreds of student journalists from across the country under a single theme. The visual package has to work everywhere — on 40-foot stage screens, laptop displays, and lobby monitors — while feeling cohesive and thematically tight across a multi-day event.
We built from the theme outward. "Deep Dive" gave us a clear visual metaphor — ocean depth as investigative journalism. We used 3D design to create a sense of physical descent, with layered compositions that reveal more the further you go. Two variants — themed and evergreen — gave the venue team flexibility to switch between immersive and ambient modes as the program demanded.
